If something cannot survive without a host they are not alive. Look at viruses for example. Or any parasite that depends on the host for survival. You cant take life away from something that never had it in the first place. I think the issue is that we can agree someone being assisted to breathe with medical equipment is still biologically alive, so people argue that there is no difference between using the womb to keep a fetus alive and using medical equipment to keep someone that is losing respiratory function alive. I don’t agree with this, FYI. I think this is just what people argue.
