 In 7th grade I was overweight, nerdy Frist Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Snow Shirt , and suuuper aware of my status as a result. This popular girl I had a crush on was bff’s with this gay dude (didn’t come out til grade 11 but we knew) who one day approaches me and said “(she) wanted me to give you this”. It was a note that said “I like you, do you like me” with options to circle yes/no/maybe. This was the first time anything like this had happened to me, so in my anxiety I suspected foul play. So I threw it away. Cue a couple days later he comes to me and says “oh hey btw I was mad at her so I wanted to embarrass her” and just walks away. Plus, the GOP is working hard to make this connection. Fuck, they don't even really have to try to do it because it's real easy to do for the Red Scare generation.  It's not really a paradox...it's  Header Papa Claus Merry Christmas Shirt only a paradox if you speak in absolutes and literally, no one is when they talk about tolerance. Like of course there's a limit. You'd have to be intentionally obtuse to see it any other way. The key there is "without limit". The lesson to learn isn't to go be intolerant of any and all intolerance. For society to work, we pretty much need to be as tolerant as possible. The lesson to learn is where are the limits, but that is a super complex and nuanced thing that gets drowned out. The answer is that intolerance cannot be tolerated.
